HISTORY:
A. Earl Weaver founded Weaver Markets in 1962 to
provide the consumer with a quality shopping experience
at competitive rates. The company was also intended
to provide a means for him and his family to help
strengthen the surrounding community through donations-a
practice followed to this day. The initial store located
in Reinholds Pennsylvania (20 miles from Lancaster)
opened for business on November 15, 1962 prospered
and became the shopping choice for most residents
of the area. The store has been expanded four times
and is still open to this day.
In 1984 the Weaver
family decide to expand as business was excellent
and Weaver Markets was ready to open another facility.
Earl selected Adamstown as his location of choice
and was ridiculed by many who thought this expansion
was a foolhardy move. Mr. Weaver once again proved
his critics wrong and customers can now shop at the
96,000 square foot Adamstown store. This store includes
23 aisles of groceries, a snack bar and a banquet
facility, which can seat up to 400 people.
In 1997 Earl’s
final dream of a separate building that could provide
low cost dinners to hard working families came to
fruition in the form of The Pavilion @ Weaver Markets.
Despite its name the Pavilion is an enclosable, heated
building that provides weekly meal specials like barbequed
chicken at very reasonable prices. The Pavilion can
also be used as a private banquet facility with seating
up to 500 persons.
The Adamstown store
has become a “one-stop-shop” with its
ability to provide groceries, prepared meals, photo
processing, flowers (Roxanne’s Flowers), prescription
drugs (Anderson’s Pharmacy), blood work (Ephrata
Medical Lab) and insurance (Unruh Insurance) all under
one roof.
